We are so saddened about this tragic event...our thoughts and prayers go out to Tom's family, especially his wife, who was at our last Court Hearing with him. We will miss them in Court tomorrow.

In Memory of...our Adoption Attorney, he passed away Saturday while on vacaction
These are pictures from our first Court Hearing on March 22, 2012.
Our Adoption Attorney was Tom Beltz
He passed away from being hit by a car in a bike riding accident. How tragic. Life is precious and you never know how much longer it will be until you face Eternity.
Praying for his wife (to the right):

Waiting to Finalize...still
It's been awhile since I've given any updates b/c there haven't really been any to give- at least not concrete ones. We've been keeping our adoption attorney busy and well paid to say the least. There have been issues with the BF (birth-father).
The big date we've been waiting for is this coming Thursday, the 19th. The 19th marks that we will have had Sammy with us for 6 months! 6 months is how long our state requires an adoptive placement to successfully endure before the adoption is able to be legally finalized in the State Court System.
So...we are still looking forward to the 19th of January! In the meantime, Sammy will be turning 6 months old on Sunday (the 15th)! We hope to celebrate that significant milestone too!
I have said that we will be delighted to have met the 6 month adoptive placement requirement, but this doesn't mean we get to show up in court on that day. In fact, this date continues to be pushed out for various reasons.
Honestly, it is a little hard to not allow ourselves to become frustrated with all of the "red-tape" and such, but then again, there isn't much that we can personally do but wait for specified time periods to pass. The one thing we have been doing is trying to press our attorney to keep checking on our waiting status and not get lost in paperwork on his desk. We had hoped for a January court date, but we are already pushing well into February at this point (at the earliest).
You can be praying for a smooth transition to a court finalization date, for details that include the BF to be ironed out, and for our patience as we wait. We gladly know that God is totally in control of our precious Samuel's adoption, and regardless of how we feel from moment to moment, we are thankful that we can rest in God's Providence and perfect timing!
